The Good Mother of Abangoh Selected to Screen at the Portland Women's Film Festival April 3, 2008 The Portland Women’s Film Festival (a.k.a. POW Fest) focuses on the art and cinematic contribution of women filmmakers from around the world. Scheduled for May 15th-18th of 2008 and spanningfour days, the roster of events will be comprised of exhibition of films made by women, moderated filmmaker panels, and filmmakerworkshops. The mission of the Portland Women’s Film Festival is to showcase the very best contemporary international independent films made by women, promote and create opportunities for women working in all areas of the film industry, and educate members in the community through filmmaker panels and hands-on workshops. The festival will also include: a rockin’ kick-off party; screenings of films by our special Guest-of-Honor Allison Anders, including /Gas Food Lodging/; a filmmaker breakfast with Allison; a local filmmakers showcase; a Family Day including a Marketplace of women-owned businesses and additional entertainment; and other events, the details of which will be posted on our website, www.powfest.com, in the next few weeks. |
